    Charging the battery pack When the camera is turned on, you cannot charge the battery pack. Be sure to turn off the power of the camera. Battery pack Insert the battery pack into your camera.     Setting the date and time When you first use your camera, set the date and time. If these are not set, the CLOCK SET screen appears whenever you turn on your camera for recording. ON/CHG lamp Slide the POWER switch to the right to turn on the power. The ON/CHG (green) lamp lights up.
  • Page 13 Select the desired date display format with v/V on the control button, then press the center z. Select from [Y/M/D] (year/month/day), [M/D/Y] (month/day/year), or [D/M/Y] (day/month/year). Select the year, month, day, hour or minute item you want to set with b/B on the control button.

    Basic operations Recording still images Still images are recorded in JPEG format. To record still images, slide the POWER switch to the right to turn on the power and insert a floppy disk. Set the PLAY/STILL/MOVIE selector to STILL. Press and hold the shutter button halfway down and check the image.
  • Page 16 Notes • When recording bright subjects, the color of the LCD screen or the finder may change after the AE is locked, however, this will not affect the recorded image. • While the image is being recorded on a floppy disk, the ACCESS lamp lights. When this lamp is lit, do not shake or strike the camera.

To return to the normal recording mode, press lightly on the shutter button or select [RETURN] with b/B on the control button and then press the center z.     Image file storage destinations and image file names Image files recorded with your camera are grouped in folders by recording mode. Images in a floppy disk and ones in a “Memory Stick” have different file names. The meanings of the file names are as follows. When using floppy disks sss stands for any number within the range from 001 to 999.
