Replacing the System Board

To replace the system board, perform the following procedure and refer to Figures 4-25
through 4-27.
1. Align the system board on the system board mounting plate so that the appropriate
holes rest on top of the restraining pins. Carefully, but firmly, press down until the
board snaps into place.
2. Secure the system board to the system board mounting plate with eight M3x6 screws.
3. Install the microprocessor and heat sink on the system board (refer to section 4.10.2.).
4. Verify that the jumper settings for the microprocessor are correct. Refer to Table 4-2
for proper microprocessor jumper settings.

5. Install the SIMMs on the system board (refer to section 4.11.2.).
6. Install the RTC battery on the system board (refer to section 4.12.2.).
7. Slide the fasteners on the right side of the system board mounting plate into the
latches in the chassis.
8. Push the mounting plate forward until it is flush against the chassis.
9. Secure the system board mounting plate to the chassis with two 6/32x1/4 screws.
10. Install expansion cards, such as the modem card (refer to section 4.4.2.) and the TV
Tuner Card (refer to section 4.5.2.), on the system board.
11. Connect the modem audio cable to the connector at J1F3 on the system board.
12. Connect the CD-ROM audio cable to the connector at J1F2 on the system board.
NOTE: If a TV Tuner Card is installed, connect the CD-ROM audio cable to
JP4 on the TV Tuner Card. Also, connect the audio cable from the TV Tuner
Card at JP5 to the connector at J1F2 on the system board.
1. Connect the HDD data cable to the connector at J10G1 on the system board.
2. Connect the CD-ROM data cable to the connector at J9G1 on the system board.
3. Connect the FDD data cable to the connector at JPK1 on the system board.
4. Connect the power cable to the connector at J6M1 on the system board.
